Ride With Me

I would love to have people join me along the way, whether to join me in a campsite, ride for an hour or a day or more. I would also love to see, in celebration of the UWC 50th Anniversary, if I could have at least one UWC alum from every UWC year from 1962 to 2012 join me. I will keep the route map up to date showing where I am and I can be emailed at dhawley@pearsoncollege.ca.

The summary outline of target dates assuming, on average, about 100 km per day. THis means if I take a day off, it would require two 150 km days to stay on the schedule. ALl of this is subject to radical change depending on weather, roads, wind, the fitness of the rider.

Monday 28 May 2012 – Saturday 2 June

From Pearson College to Port Hardy, BC (525 km) – then Ferry to Prince Rupert

Sunday 3 June – Wednesday 6 June

Cycle perimeter of Haida Gwaii (150 km)

Thursday 7 June – Sunday 17 June

Prince Rupert, BC – Jasper, AB (1,100 km)

Monday 18 June – Wednesday 27 June

Jasper, AB – Moose Jaw, SK (1,200 km)

Thursday 28 June – Wednesday 18 July

    • Hey Liesl and David! I am in Montreal too, and I’d love to join! I am a Pearson grad 2003. Liesl, what do you do here?

    • Hi Molly,
I’m head of digital marketing at a consultancy firm, how ’bout you?

Great David, will follow your progress and look forward to grabbing a celebratory beer in ~July!

  1. David – Beth and I will be at our cottage in Algonquin Park around the time you are expected to pass through mid-Ontario. We will – if the timing works and if the crowds of alumni and fellow trustees are not too crushing – make a plan to meet you roadside with a cup of tea for a quick hello. This is a wonderful journey for us all at Pearson.

  2. David, as your trip gets closer to the east coast, Martha and I will plan to join you for a few days/weeks. maybe we can meet you in PQ and ride along for a while…
